First Lady Oluremi Tinubu faced embarrassment during her visit to a nursing school in Delta State, as students refused to acknowledge her as “their mother” in a call-and-response song.
Tinubu had visited the institution in her hometown, where she distributed 10,000 medical kits to midwives. To welcome her, an MC led a chant, singing, “Na our mama be this o,” expecting the students to respond in agreement.
Instead, they repeatedly replied, “Na your mama,” rejecting the title.
The video of the incident went viral, but the student who originally posted it was reportedly bullied into deleting it and deactivating her TikTok account. She also claimed to have received threats.
The episode has sparked heated reactions online. While some Nigerians condemned the students’ actions as disrespectful , others argued that Tinubu deserved the reaction due to her husband’s governance.
Meanwhile, some political influencers are now calling on the Federal Government to sanction the school.
